This will replace a SID 6581 or 8580. You simply choose correct jumper setting on the Nano SwinSID according to what original SID chip you are replacing. Then plug the SwinSID into the socket where the original SID chip was. SIMPLE!
 
There are two pin headers on the chip J1 and J2. For 6581 replacement place the provided jumper on J1. For 8580 place the jumper on J2.
 
There may be some slight differences in sound quality from the original chip. That being said, for the most part this is a great low cost option for a missing or damaged SID.
 
The original SID chip controls game paddles and also controls the use of a mouse. The SwinSID DOES NOT come with SUPPORT THE USE OF PADDLES OR A MOUSE.
